Company News >> QuickLogic vision enhancement engine reduces LCD backlight power 23th,Jan,2018
QuickLogic recently announced Visual Enhancement Engine (VEE) to enable next-generation multimedia product performance. This patented VEE technology provides high-quality video contrast optimization for a wide range of consumer and professional-grade components. It is specifically tailored to the needs of the mobile industry, providing consumers with a visual experience of television quality while also extending battery life.
To provide a wide range of usage types, applications and baseband processors and LCD displays with a power-efficient and flexible solution, QuickLogic and Apical Limited jointly build and develop mobile and portable multimedia products with Apical algorithms and QuickLogic video Enhanced algorithms, and the patented ViaLink programmable architecture. VEE's technology core is based on the proven iridix algorithm, which is licensed by Apical Limited and carefully researched and developed by scientists to create a way for human eyes to adapt to the scene and image being viewed when the ambient light conditions change.
Using smart re-mapping data to enhance sub-region variability, VEE improves the visibility of images and video without affecting the graphics and text on the screen as the user splits between web browsing and mobile TV or YouTube functionality Screen when the important use of examples. VEE also enables mobile components to provide outstanding user experience in outdoor and bright ambient environments without adding LCD backlighting, thus saving valuable battery life. At indoor or low ambient brightness, VEE enables mobile devices to operate with lower power LCD backlights while maintaining visual experience, which is a common use case for viewing movies on mobile devices on mobile devices. One of the real benefits of the VEE architecture is that its settings can be updated in real time to adapt the algorithm as the ambient brightness conditions change.
VEE technology will be included in QuickLogic's Proven System Block (PSB) database and will be built on multiple silicon platforms and eventually delivered to OEMs and ODM customers with customer-specific standard products (CSSPs).
In keeping with the requirements of the mobile market, QuickLogic has developed related packaging strategies to support small form-factor ball grid array (BGA) and wafer level chip scale package (WL-CSP).
Visual Enhancement Engine (VEE) is currently shipping on the PSB of the QuickLogic PolarPro family of programmable solution platforms. It will also be built-in as the company's hard-logic family of next-generation ArcticLink solution platforms and are expected to sample in the third quarter of 2008.
