According to South Korea’s “Central Daily News”, LG Electronics held a new product launch conference at LG Science Park in Maple Cave, Seoul on the 6th, and announced the new products of 18 types of TV models, including Signature OLED, OLED and Super Ultra HD, with 55 inches. Available in three different sizes, 65-inch and 77-inch, priced between 1.69 million and 17 million won (about 10,000 to 100,000 RMB). LG Electronics’ president of mobile and home entertainment, Mr. Quan Fengqi, said that the price of new products this year has been reduced by 30% compared with last year. Because of the large-scale production of OLEDs, the production rate of panels has stabilized and the production cost has been revolutionized.
It is reported that it is more difficult to produce large OLED screens. The larger the screen size, the higher the price will be. Therefore, the price of OLED TV products is an important factor affecting its competitiveness. The analysis believes that this year LG Electronics sharply lowered the price of new TV products, in order to overcome this price disadvantage and expand its share in the Korean domestic market.
According to reports, the global OLED TV market is expected to reach 3.6 million units this year, 7 million units in 2020, 10 million units in 2021, and even more than 20 million units in the next three years. The development prospects are bright.
LG Electronics also announced that it will be the first to introduce reel TVs in Korea in the second half of this year. The screen of the reel TV can be rolled up to collect the box, and when you need to open the screen from the box, you can watch the TV, which can greatly improve the space efficiency. Quan Fengqi said that the price of this TV has not yet been determined.
At the beginning of January, at this year's Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show, LG Electronics has already demonstrated this reel TV. At the time, the TV product show at the Consumer Electronics Show showed high-definition, artificial intelligence and the adoption of new display technologies, reflecting consumer demand for high-quality, intelligent and large-size TVs.
