First of all, in principle

LCD This is the abbreviation of Liquid Crystal Display. The full name of Chinese name is liquid crystal display. The driving method of LCD can be divided into Active Matrix and Passive Matrix. Most of the LCD screens used in mobile phones are Active Matrix. All the pixels of the LCD need to rely on a unified backlight layer to emit light, which means that the LCD needs to be illuminated by the backlight to display.

In contrast, AMOLED displays are much simpler. Although they rely on a series of complex organic thin film materials to achieve the goal of illuminating, his biggest advantage is that each pixel has a high degree of controllability. Each pixel can be independently switched, so that it can be independently illuminated.

The illumination source of the LCD will be simpler and there is not much color in it. Strictly speaking, there is no wavelength corresponding to white light in the world. White light can only be a variety of mixed colors. LCD can only pass The backlight + phosphor way to produce a white backlight, the most commonly used is a combination of blue backlight = yellow phosphor. So LCD screens are usually a bit bluish or greenish. Of course, considering that LCDs usually use blue backlights, this is not the case.

At this point, the AMOLED screen will look a lot better, because its screen color is very good, especially when displaying white, it is very similar to real white, and one point is that compared to LCD screen, The AMOLED screen will be richer in the sense of the screen, the color gamut will be wider, it can display more colors, and the displayed image will be more pleasing. Therefore, in the color gamut, the AMOLED screen is superior.



Finally in general

Although the LCD screen is better to compete with the AMOLED screen, it has tried to make up for its lack of color. If you want the LCD screen to look richer, you can do it on the color saturation, but this method destroys the color. Balance, so if you like a brighter color, you'd better choose a good AMOLED screen with color balance control. In addition, in the LCD screen, the viewing angle and screen response speed can only be limited by one light. The angle passes through the liquid crystal molecules and the polarizing plate, so the viewing angle is smaller than that of the AMOLED screen. The reaction speed of the LED is also faster than changing the voltage of the liquid crystal molecules, so the screen response time is also the AMOLED win.

In fact, the advantages of AMOLED screen in terms of power consumption thickness and display effect are more prominent than LCD screens, and the cost is also declining.
