Recently, well-known Apple analyst Guo Mingchi said that Apple may launch 4 to 6 products equipped with mini LED displays in the next few years.

According to MacRumors report, in the third quarter of next year, Apple will launch a high-end iPad Pro tablet computer equipped with A14X processor and mini LED display, and launch a 16-inch MacBook Pro with mini LED display in the fourth quarter. In other words, the 2020 iPadPro and MacBook Pro will be the first two devices equipped with a mini LED display.

Guo Mingchi said that the mini LED display will significantly improve the "office efficiency and entertainment experience" of the device. Previously, Guo Mingchi pointed out that the mini LED display will make the product thinner and lighter, while providing high contrast, dynamic range and wide color gamut performance. Essentially, you will be able to get a better viewing experience with a smaller display.

Switching to mini LEDs will also allow Apple to further reduce its dependence on Samsung parts. Guo Mingchi once believed that mini LEDs for these devices are likely to be produced by LG instead of Samsung. In addition, companies such as Epistar, Nichia, Avary Holding and TSMT will also contribute to the successful production of mini LED displays.

Guo Mingchi said that the mini LED display will contain about 10,000 LEDs, which will provide a quality similar to that of OLED displays, while avoiding the aging problems that affect OLED displays.

This technique is expensive. Currently, we may only see Apple using mini LEDs in high-end products, rather than entry-level devices. This also means that devices equipped with mini LED displays will be expensive, and you may only see mini LEDs on top iPads and MacBook Pros, not on MacBook Air or other entry-level devices.
